Castle Geyser
The mosaic in front of the geyser was just too much to pass up. With an eruption cycle of 10 to 12 hours I was not sure I could wait to see it. The clouds were moving in quickly and the steady crack of thunder was almost overhead. Castle Geyser erupts up to 90 feet and lasts for about 20 minutes.
The clouds framed the image in a way that surprised me and the mosaic in front reflected some of the light back to create an intense interplay of foreground and sky. This was the first image I developed and printed from this trip as I could hardly contain my excitement. This is one of my favorites.
